TAG Heuer Creates Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph in Red

TAG Heuer, celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, has created a unique one-off watch – the red Silverstone Calibre 11 Chronograph. The timepiece will be auctioned for charity by UK auctioneers Bonhams on 15th December. It is expected to fetch from 9,000 to 12,000 US dollars.The special edition chronograph model is based on the re-edition Silverstone already introduced by the brand this year.

The initial Silverstone watch joined the world of watchmaking in 1974. It was the choice of Clay Regazzoni, the leading 1970’s Swiss Formula One driver. Since then, the TAG Heuer Silverstone, having been named after the famous UK racetrack, is more and more popular among collectors and is considered to be the second most valuable series of the brand following the Monaco.

The TAG Heuer Silverstone watch stands out from the crowd due to its distinctive and vintage design. It demonstrates a square-shaped case with rounded edges crafted in polished stainless steel.

The TAG Heuer 2010 Silverstone version is animated by with the legendary Chronomatic Calibre 11, the first self-winding automatic chronograph movement with micro-rotor. It reflects the major characteristics of the original Silverstone, including not only the round and square design and technical peculiarities, but also such details as the vintage “Heuer” logo and “Silverstone” inscription found at 12 o’clock, not to mention the strap in top-quality perforated alligator leather.
