How to Shorten Replica Seiko Watches Bands

To shorten a Replica Seiko watch band you will need to remove at least one link from the watch band. The steps for doing this apply to all types of metal Seiko watch bands. This is a simple process that can be completed by anyone, regardless of whether they have experience working with watches.

Things You'll Need:

Pointed tool (such as one that you might find in a hobby kit) or a thumb tack, for removing the pins.

Instructions

Step 1

Identify the link you wish to remove. Only the three or four links on either side of the watch clasp are meant to be removed. Unlike the more permanent links, these links are attached to each other with removable pins, which are as long as one of the links and slightly thicker than a needle, without the sharp tip. They are inserted through tiny circles on the side of the watch band.

While you can choose to remove as many of the removable links as you need, only remove one at a time, starting with the links that are located directly on either side of the clasp.

Step 2

To remove a link, you first need to remove the two pins that keep it attached to the links on either side of it. Turn the watch band on its side so that the links are vertical. Look on the inside of the watch band. You should be able to see small arrows on the removable links. These indicate the direction you should push on the pins in order to slide them out. Only the removable links have these arrows.

Take the tip of your pointed tool or thumb tack and touch it to the pin head, by the base of the arrow. Using force, push in the direction of the arrow to slide the pin out of the link. Repeat this step for the other link.

Step 3

The link you want to remove should no longer be attached by any pins. Remove it and set it aside, along with one of the pins you removed. Keep this extra link and pin in a safe place, because you may need to use them again in the future.

Keep the other pin handy; you will be using it to reconnect the watch band.

Step 4

Slide the remaining links together so that the watch band can be closed up again. Take the pin you kept on hand from step 3 and use it to reattach the link that was left loose in step 3. Insert the pin through the hole that is closest to the base of the arrow and use your pointed tool to push on it in the direction of the arrow. Slide the pin completely down until it is flush with the edge of the watch band.
