Collective Minds Creates Watchmaker Patek Philippe Grand Ball

The event creator Collective Minds delivered a stunning Grand Ball for the ultimate watchmaker Patek Philippe and the jewellers Mappin & Webb and Watches of Switzerland.

London-based Collective Minds transformed the capital’s Victoria House in Bloomsbury Square for an evening of fabulous food and the finest timepieces in the world.

More than 150 VIP guests enjoyed cocktails, canapés and champagne in a floor of Victoria House transformed into an exclusive boutique, where they were entertained and enlightened by the story of the impressive family owned watch company.

The black tie event was a showcase for the horological masterpieces in the new 2010 Patek Philippe Collection, which was introduced by fourth generation owner Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe.

Tom Goodwin, managing director of Collective Minds, said: “We promised a ‘wow’ event which would be spectacular, impressive and exclusive. And we were delighted to deliver that calibre of experience which is in tune with the brand ethos of Patek Philippe.”

Guests were seated at Perspex tables, inside which watch parts were suspended. Around the room were the timepieces in the new collection, and a master watchmaker was on hand to talk through their highly engineered movements, visible through a stereo microscope and projected on to a big screen.

The Grand Ball saw Collective Minds contribute all the creative elements of the evening’s design, plus the sourcing of venue and managing the event’s production, brand communication and catering.

The food, by Collective Minds’ sister company Stones Events, began with canapés which included: foie gras and smoked ham hock terrine, parsley, thyme toast; Cornish lamb confit, heirloom tomato with mint béarnaise, crisp potato wafer; and lemongrass chilli crab, wasabi short bread, cucumber glee.

After starters which included fresh sashimi grade yellowfin tuna, the main course featured poached beef fillet with steamed cavalo nero. Jazz pianist Anthony Kinsey played beautifully before the guests danced beyond Midnight.
